Nearly $4M in cocaine found during semi traffic stop

(PUTNAM CO., Ind.) – Indiana State Troopers found nearly $4 million worth of cocaine during a traffic stop on I-70 in Putnam County. 

The semi driver was identified as Harpreet Singh, of Greenwood. He told police he was transporting an empty trailer from Memphis, Tennessee to Indianapolis. 

Troopers say a search resulted in them finding several duffle bags that contained a total of 277 pounds of cocaine. It had an estimated street value of $3.8 million. 

Officials say this large bust is another example of the successful expansion of the Indiana State Police Interdiction Unit. 

The unit, operating full-time within the Drug Enforcement Section (DES), focuses on criminal interdiction efforts along Indiana’s major thoroughfares. 

Its mission is to disrupt the flow of illegal drugs and other contraband before they reach Indiana communities—helping safeguard lives and property throughout the state.
