New owners of Morgan's Canoe in Brookville share plans for future

"We are excited to continue the long tradition here"

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – The new owners of Morgan’s Canoe & Outdoor Adventures in Brookville have a simple message:

Nothing is going to change. Except for more equipment.

Cincinnati natives Brogan and Chelsea Orcutt saw that Morgan’s was for sale a few days after it was listed earlier this year. 

“I reached out to some of our different family members, and discussed whether owning Morgan’s was attainable,” Brogan said. 

They got in contact with Liz Hughey with White’s Realty and visited the property.

“We were interested right away,” Brogan recalled. 

The sale was officially completed on Thursday and the 50-year-old livery business is now owned by the Orcutt’s.

“It is a blessing in so many ways, we are excited to continue the long tradition here, and continue serving such a loyal customer base while being part of the Brookville community,” he said. 

What's Ahead

The new owners are committed to keeping things the same and the Morgan family will continue to be involved with business operations this summer. 

Orcutt added that they also have no plans to change the name of the business. 

“Our goal is that nothing is changing, when people stop in they should expect the same experience they have had in the past,” Brogan said. 

There will be one major addition to the business. All of the equipment from the former Morgan’s location in Ohio will be transferred to Brookville.

“We’ll have more canoes and equipment than ever before and we shouldn’t have to ever turn people away on busy days,” he said. 

As long as the weather and river conditions cooperate, the business could open for the season next weekend.
