(GUILFORD, Ind.) – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the new North Dearborn Community Park playground on Saturday morning.
The playground features slides and various equipment plus a sensory area.
It took two years to raise the funds for the playground which came through private donations, community members and organizations and $75,000 from a Dearborn Community Foundation grant.
“This playground was built through community support, hard work, generosity, and a shared vision to create a special place for local families and children for years to come,” organizers said.
The playground marks the second phase of development as a one-mile walking and biking path was opened last summer.
All of the features at the park have been made possible through donations, grants and events. Future additions will be made to the playground area and the park as more funds are raised.
The ribbon cutting ceremony took place during the monthly Farmer's Market. The next one will be on June 20.
The park is located at the site of the old North Dearborn Elementary School and you can follow along with their progress by clicking here.
