North Decatur students hoping to receive Oreos from other countries

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Do you know someone living in another country and would be willing to send Oreo’s to a local classroom?

North Decatur Elementary second graders will soon be working on an Oreo research project and could use your help. 

Teacher Linda Smith leads the annual Oreo project where they typically research different facts and flavors. 

This fall, she is hoping to take the project to a global scale! 

“We discovered that there are many Oreo varieties sold in over 100 countries, and we’d like to use them to teach geography and world cultures,” Smith told The 812.

If shipping the cookies is too expensive, they will even be happy to receive an empty Oreo wrapper or just a photo of the package. 

As the items arrive, the students will place a colored pin on a world map. 

“We will also learn about the counties and their flags. It will be an exciting way for our students to see how one familiar cookie connects people around the world,” Smith added.
