North Vernon police find meth during traffic stop

(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – North Vernon Police say a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine. 

An officer stopped a vehicle driven by Zachary Clark after determining he had a suspended driver’s license. 

Police say they developed probable cause to search the vehicle.

“The subsequent search resulted in the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, digital scales, numerous small plastic baggies commonly associated with drug distribution, a cellular phone, and approximately $1,271 in cash,” the North Vernon Police Department stated. 

Officers say they also found suspected methamphetamine inside a liquid-filled container. 

Clark was arrested on several drug-related charges including Dealing Methamphetamine and Dealing Marijuana. 

“This arrest is another example of proactive policing and officers recognizing indicators that can turn a routine traffic stop into a significant drug investigation,” Chief Keith Messer said. “We will continue working with our law enforcement partners to identify and investigate individuals involved in the distribution of illegal drugs in our community.”
