Notable women of Ripley, Franklin and Decatur counties forum on March 27

Will be led by History In The 812's John Pratt

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The public is invited to learn about local women who had great accomplishments. 


Notable Women of Ripley, Franklin and Decatur Counties will be held at the Batesville Library at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 26. 


It will be led by retired Greensburg history teacher John Pratt who is also the host of History In The 812. 


Pratt said, “Did you know who these local women are: a female African American Underground Railroad Conductor, a leading suffragist, a popular national children’s author, a widowed mother who had 6 sons serve at the same time during World War II?”


The seminar will also focus on a woman who dressed as a man to serve in the Civil War, an all-star women’s baseball player, a U.S. Senator, an inventor and more.
