(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Some local nursing students are receiving assistance from scholarships.
The Ripley County Community Foundation awarded multiple scholarships during their annual dinner.
Batesville graduate Calli Fletcher attends Mount Saint Joseph and she was awarded three nursing scholarships totaling $3,600.
She received the Doris A. Brelage Memorial Nursing Scholarship, which was established in 2008 in honor of the longtime MMH nurse.
Fletcher was also the recipient of the Riley Duerstock Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $1,500. Riley was a Batesville native who was pursuing her nursing degree when she unexpectedly lost her life.
Fletcher also received a $1,000 MarySue Luhring-Knisley Nursing Scholarship. That scholarship honors MarySue's caring nature, generosity, and exceptional listening skills.
Two other students received MarySue Luhring-Knisley Nursing Scholarships. Emma Leap is a 2024 graduate of Greensburg High School who is attending Indiana University.
Lanie Narwold is a 2026 Jac-Cen-Del grad who will begin pursuing her nursing degree this fall. Lanie was also awarded a $5,000 scholarship in honor of Dr. Michael Hansen.
