NWS confirms EF-2 tornado in Drewersburg

(DREWERSBURG, Ind.) – The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado did touch down in the Drewersburg area on Thursday.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Welsh Drive and Drewersburg Road.

NWS meteorologists are still conducting the damage survey but preliminary results show it peaked as an EF-2.

An EF-2 means it had estimated wind gusts between 111-135 miles per hour based on the damage.

There were approximately 10 structures that suffered damage in the area, including two homes that were either destroyed or severely damaged.

A final assessment, including the further survey results is expected to be released later tonight.

The NWS is also conducting a storm survey in Aurora and those results are not yet known.
