(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – Some Oldenburg Academy students have come up with a project to improve their community, but need support to make it a reality.
The project is called ‘Beautifying The Burg’ and the students are working with Town Council and businesses to redevelop the area around the Maypole.
Students are hoping to resurface the basketball court and make it multi-use for pickleball. The project would also involve a fire pit, landscaping and seating.
OA’s project is one of four in Indiana that is eligible for a matching grant through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA).
The students are hoping to raise $25,000 and IHCDA will match it. The fundraising effort ends on March 28.
The student project coincides with another initiative through the Town Council that would involve a walking trail and green space and a small pavilion.
