(VEVAY, Ind.) – Officials are warning residents to not walk onto the Ohio River.
While the river may appear to be frozen, officials say it is not.
“The river is still flowing with dangerous undertow and moving heavy sheets of ice that will trap/crush you,” the Jefferson Craig Fire Department stated.
Dearborn County Water Rescue reiterated that message by saying, “Yes, please stay off the river! The Ohio River is nowhere near close to being frozen.”
The last time the Ohio River completely froze over was in 1977.
Another week of cold weather is on the way with high temperatures in the 20's and a chance of snow on Tuesday and Thursday.
