Ohio River Way Challenge comes through Southeast Indiana

(RISING SUN, Ind.) -- The Ohio River Way Challenge is coming through Southeast Indiana on Tuesday.

The 488-mile canoe trip began in Huntington, West Virginia on May 10 and will eventually reach Evansville.

“This is our biggest Challenge yet—not just in miles, but in scope,” said Forest Clevenger, Executive Director of Ohio River Way. “We’re bringing together paddlers, students, artists, community partners, and a filmmaker to celebrate the beauty, history, and culture of the Ohio River.”

One Dearborn executive director Mike Perleberg is one of the participants today. He and the other canoers left Petersburg, Kentucky at 8 a.m. and stopped in Aurora before reaching Rising Sun.

There’s approximately 30 people on the trek today including a man from England who is part of the entire trip.

The Ohio River Way is a nonprofit working to help people find adventure, inspire care for the land and water, and grow the economies of Ohio River communities.
