One arrested after firing gun at possible theft suspect

(CONNERSVILLE, Ind.) – A Connersville homeowner was arrested after allegedly firing a gun at a person on their property.
Police responded to the initial report of theft at the home on Grand Avenue around 7 a.m. Thursday.
Police say the occupant of the home was alerted by a Ring doorbell camera that someone was in the backyard.
The occupant allegedly held the person at gunpoint waiting for police to arrive.
“During the time of awaiting officer’s response, the subject fled from the backyard and attempted to climb over a wooden fence. At this point, the complainant discharged the firearm at the fleeing subject,” the Connersville Police Department stated.
The bullet struck the fence and there were no signs that anyone was injured, police added.
Police searched for the suspect and have not yet been able to find the person.
22-year-old Jesse Wilson-Young was identified as the person who fired the gun and has been charged withCriminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon.
“We will also be seeking an arrest warrant for the alleged suspect for the offense of Theft,” the department added.
The incident prompted Fayette County Schools to close the middle school due to the close proximity.
