Open House for Batesville Transmission Improvement Project Wednesday

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Some homeowners have been receiving a mailer regarding the Batesville Transmission Improvements Project and an upcoming Open House. 

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is planning a power grid upgrade to improve electric reliability in eastern Indiana, according to the mailer. 

The proposed project involves the construction of 9 miles of new 345-kilovolt transmission line between the Duke Energy Batesville substation on Delaware Road to the American Electric Power Tanner’s Creek-Junction Tower transmission line in the Sunman area.

"The plan focuses on building a backbone in the Midwest to carry electricity long distances, strengthening the power grid and improving electric service for customers," officials said.

Project representatives will have an Open House at the Batesville Knights of Columbus from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29. 

There is no formal presentation and citizens can stop by at anytime or even attend virtually by clicking here.

“We invite you to join us for an open house to learn more about the project, view detailed maps, talk with team members, and share your feedback,” company officials said.
