Osgood couple celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary today

(OSGOOD, Ind.) – An Osgood couple is celebrating a milestone anniversary on Tuesday. 

Charlie and Vickie Swinney got married on April 7, 1966 and today marks their 60th wedding anniversary. 

They got married in a little church called Versailles Southern Baptist which used to be located near Versailles Farm Garden. 

It was a simple wedding but their 50th anniversary was a bit more extravagant.

They renewed their wedding vows and also took their daughters to Hawaii. 

"I always said if we can make it to 50 years I'm taking Vickie to Hawaii," Charlie said.

Today, they are spending the entire day with their three daughters who each took off work to celebrate. 

Their advice to younger couples: A successful marriage requires both give and take. 

“Just because someone gets mad doesn’t mean it needs to turn into more, sometimes you just have to walk away a bit,” Vickie said. 

Charlie added, “We have been very blessed.”

In addition to their three daughters, Vickie and Charlie also have 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
