Photos: Franklin County Lady Wildcats win softball sectional championship

Two seniors react to sectional title:

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The Franklin County Lady Wildcats are Sectional 29 Champions!

The Wildcats beat Jennings County 3-1 on Thursday night to earn their first sectional crown since 2022. 

Standout senior and University of Illinois commit Brooke Stang said the sectional win is a testament to the culture of the team. 

“We have a lot of tools that we can use and have so many people that we can put anywhere, and we’ve had to do that a lot this year.”

Fellow senior Annie Hoff said the team’s goal this year has been to get a banner in the gym.

“That’s what we’ve been looking forward to all year, and doing it together because ‘together’ is our team motto,” she said.

They will now face the winner of Corydon Central or Charlestown in the Regionals on June 3.

The Milan Indians also captured a sectional championship as they defeated Hauser 7-2 on Thursday.
