Pierce named Switzerland County Woman of the Year

(VEVAY, Ind.) – A Vevay woman who turned tragedy into purpose is being recognized by a Switzerland County sorority. 

Billie Pierce has been named the Switzerland County Woman of the Year by Vevay Gamma Chi. 

Pierce began painting in 2015 after she was involved in a tragic UTV crash that claimed the life of a young girl. 

Her initiative is called ‘Billie's Painting With Purpose’ and the money she makes from her paintings is fully donated to the charity of the buyer’s choice. 

Her artwork led to nearly $21,000 being donated to various Switzerland County nonprofits in 2025. It has raised more than $50,000 since the initiative began. 

“Billie is so very deserving of being recognized for all she has done and continues to do to help and give back to the place she calls home now,” stated Vevay Gamma Chi.
