Police: Incident in Morris raises awareness about domestic violence

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office is sharing a recent incident in the hopes of raising awareness about domestic violence.

Deputies received a call about around 5 a.m. Saturday about a physical altercation involving a gun at a home on State Road 46 just east of Morris.

Police say 21-year-old Trenton Kincade was identified as the suspect.

A deputy asked if he could search for the alleged gun inside the home but police say that request was denied.

A warrant was then issued and police say the search resulted in a handgun being found in Kincade’s bedroom.

Kincade was arrested on preliminary charges of Criminal Confinement, Domestic Violence and Intimidation while having a Deadly Weapon.

The department didn’t provide any more specific details about the incident but did add that domestic battery affects families in every community, regardless of age, gender, income, or background.

“Domestic battery can include physical violence, threats, intimidation, or other abusive behavior between current or former intimate partners or family members. Early intervention, education, and community support can help prevent violence and protect those at risk,” the sheriff’s department said.

Ripley County deputies are hoping community members can recognize the impact and signs of abuse as well as help that is available.
