Police investigating mailbox explosion near Guilford
Watch here:
(GUILFORD, Ind.) – A Dearborn County family had quite the shock this weekend.
The mailbox exploded in front of their home on Burtzelbach Road in the Guilford area around 10 p.m. Saturday.
It was caused by someone driving by and placing an explosive, such as a firework, inside the mailbox.
They contacted the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office and it remains under investigation.
The homeowner tells us that some neighbors got a description of the truck.
It’s been identified as an early 2000’s Ford with a gray stripe along the bottom of the doors.
“We're really just looking to have whoever did it replace our mailbox,” the homeowner said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (812) 537-3431.
