(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A man is behind bars on Attempted Murder charges after an incident in Westport on July 4.
Investigators say 27-year-old Jacob Brewer went to a home on Race Street and got into a fight with another man.
“Brewer produced a firearm, pointed it at the resident and pulled the trigger, but the firearm did not discharge,” according to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department.
The fight continued afterward and Brewer and the resident suffered injuries.
Police say they recovered the gun and determined that it had been stolen from another home in the Millhousen area.
Brewer was arrested that same evening in Jennings County and charged with Attempted Murder, Intimidation, Theft and Battery.
His bond has been set at $750,000.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Decatur County EMS, Westport Fire, Jennings County Sheriff’s Department and Decatur County Communications.
