Suspect arrested after multi-county search

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A man suspected of breaking into a Greensburg home was arrested after a manhunt that spanned multiple counties.
Police say 40-year-old Ethan Pierce, of Metamora, had a rifle when he broke through a window of a home in the 400 block of West North Street around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
“Occupants of the residence fled the residence and hid in the area. Peirce exited the residence back through the same window and left the area,” according to Greensburg Police.
Greensburg officers and Decatur County deputies immediately began searching for the suspect.
At one point the search led officers to the Oldenburg area as it was believed Pierce may have been there. It was later determined that the suspect was not in that area.
Pierce was eventually arrested around 8 a.m. in Shelby County, police said.
He was booked into the Decatur County Jail on preliminary charges of Burglary, Intimidation While Drawing a Deadly Weapon and Pointing a Firearm.
Other agencies who assisted included the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Batesville Police and Indiana State Police.
