(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – A man was arrested after a multi-county police pursuit on Friday.
Ripley County deputies were in the area of Benham Road and County Road 450 South after receiving a report of an unwanted male at a house.
Deputies say they saw a vehicle that matched the description run off the roadway before taking off at a high rate of speed.
A pursuit began that went into New Marion with speeds over 100 miles per hour, police said.
The chase went into Jefferson County where police deployed tire deflation devices twice, however the suspect’s vehicle was still able to travel.
Police say the chase went into Madison where the suspect parked at a home on Fairmount Drive.
“Duarte exited the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene and disobey the officers' commands on the scene,” stated the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy deployed a taser and the suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Phillip Duarte, of Madison, and he was charged with OWI, Resisting Law Enforcement and Reckless Driving.
