Police: Ripley Co. K-9 helps lead officers to drugs

Officers initially responded to domestic call in Sunman

(SUNMAN, Ind.) – A Sunman man is accused of meth possession after a traffic stop in the Napoleon area.

Police were initially called to a report of a domestic fight at a home in Sunman around 8 p.m. Thursday.

Sunman and Milan officers arrived and found out that the male suspect had left the scene.

A Ripley County deputy eventually located the suspect vehicle on State Road 48 in Napoleon and initiated a traffic stop.

Deputy Justin Batchelor deployed K-9 Dex during the traffic stop and said Dex gave a positive alert of narcotics in the vehicle.

Deputies say they found what is believed to be methamphetamine, multiple bags of marijuana and a scale.

43-year-old Aaron Sloan was booked into the Ripley County Jail accused of Possession of Methamphetamine and other charges.

K-9 Dex came to the department last summer thanks to generous donations from Mid-America Industrial and Kelly’s Hidden Acres Golf Course in Milan.
