Police share details of pursuit, Batesville manhunt

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Authorities are sharing more information after a traffic stop and manhunt that occurred in Batesville on Wednesday night. 


Decatur County deputies say 57-year-old Timothy Wolfe was driving on a suspended license and they attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the State Road 3/46 bypass in Greensburg. 


Wolfe allegedly led them on a pursuit on Lincoln Street where speeds reached 106-miles-per-hour.


The pursuit then went on State Road 46 and traveled into the Batesville area where Wolfe’s car went off the road near Lake of the Woods. 


Wolfe allegedly fled on foot into a nearby cornfield and an extensive search lasted for nearly 12 hours.


The search involved K’9’s, drones and an Indiana State Police helicopter. 



Wolfe was found in the immediate area the next morning by a Batesville police officer who took him into custody. 


Wolfe has been charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, Possession of Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug, Possession of Marijuana, Driving While Suspended and Reckless Driving.


Agencies that were involved in the incident included the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, Greensburg Police, Batesville Police, Indiana DNR and the ISP.
