Police: Woman connected to Ohio burglary ring jailed in Franklin Co.

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – A woman police believe is associated with a burglary ring is behind bars in Franklin County. 

29-year-old Alison Lopez, of New York City, is one of five suspects who allegedly committed a series of burglaries in the Cincinnati area. 

The group allegedly used a military grade Wi-Fi jammer and other surveillance equipment to conduct the burglaries. 

Three members of the group were arrested in West Chester on January 22 and Ohio police reached out to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities believed the suspects were staying in an Airbnb at the Stone Gate Vacation Cabins in Brookville. 

Deputies conducted surveillance on the Airbnb which led to a traffic stop where Lopez was taken into custody. 

A search of her car and Airbnb led deputies to find multiple items consistent with tools and equipment believed to be associated with burglaries, including an electronic device capable of interfering with Wi-Fi and cellular signals, prosecutors said. 

During the vehicle search, officers located an original factory box believed to be associated with that device.

Franklin County Prosecutor Chris Huerkamp formally charged Lopez with Unlawful Use of a Signal Jammer, which is a Level 6 felony. 

The charge of Unlawful Use of Signal Jammer just became Indiana law back in July.

Lopez remains behind bars in Franklin County and is expected to be extradited to Butler County, Ohio.

Prosecutor Huerkamp said he does not believe any additional criminal activity associated with the group occurred in Franklin County. 

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Indiana State Police and the Hamilton County Burglary Task Force.
