Rare 'fogbow' spotted in Hanover Tuesday morning

(HANOVER, Ind.) – A resident in Hanover captured this rare “fogbow” early this morning. 

Whitney Arnett was near Hanover-Saluda Road around 8:25 a.m. when she photographed the fogbow. 

"It was extremely foggy closer to the river and as I was coming out of the heavy fog I started to notice it. I didn’t know what it was but knew it was something," Arnett told The 812.

'Fogbows' are a colorless rainbow that appears when it is not raining. They are considered a rare weather phenomenon. 

"This ghostly rainbow differs from its multi-colored cousin mainly in the size of water drops acting on incoming sunlight," according to The Weather Channel.
