Rep. Houchin recognizes October as National Learning Disabilities Awareness Month

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Congresswoman Erin Houchin (R-District 9) is joining another congresswoman to recognize October as National Learning Disabilities Awareness Month.
Observed annually in October, National Learning Disabilities Awareness Month raises public awareness of learning disabilities, promotes early and accurate diagnoses, and highlights the importance of ensuring individuals have access to the resources, tools, and support they need to succeed in school, the workplace, and their communities.
Rep. Houchin introduced the measure alongside California congresswoman Julia Brownley.
“Students with learning disabilities too often fall through the cracks of our education system. That’s why I am proud to recognize National Learning Disabilities Awareness Month alongside Congresswoman Brownley,” said Rep. Houchin.
Rep. Houchin added, “Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, and that starts with identifying learning disabilities as early as possible. This year, I introduced the New IDEA Act, which would clarify the pathways for schools to identify and provide accommodations for students with specific learning disabilities, and help students receive the instruction they need.”
