(WESTPORT, Ind.) – A man is safe after a water rescue in Decatur County on Tuesday night.
First responders were called to the Westport Dam after the man had been swept down the river.
Firefighters and police immediately jumped into action by deploying two kayaks into the water.
Letts firefighters also used a drone while other first responders searched the surrounding area both on foot and with UTV’s.
“The Drone was also used to monitor the Rescue teams positions on the water during the rescue,” Letts firefighters said.
The kayak teams found the man about a quarter-mile down river.
A Letts Fire Department boat was deployed to bring the man back to shore and he was safely rescued without any injuries.
Agencies who assisted included Westport Fire, Letts Fire, Decatur County EMS, Decatur County Sheriff’s Department and Decatur County Communications.
