(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Greensburg community members gathered to celebrate literacy with the unveiling of the Sally Crane Memorial Story Walk.
The Greensburg Decatur County Public Library recently honored Sally Crane, former local English teacher and library board member, with the addition of a Story Walk along the Next Level Trail.
This project was made possible largely by a generous donation from the Sally Crane Estate in 2018 after she passed away.
It is located along the portion of the trail connecting Rebekah Park to the library. Several posts are set up throughout the path, each displaying two pages of a book. While walking the trail, users can also take a journey through a story.
Each book will also include a Spanish transcript to make the walk an accessible experience for all community members
The goal of this project is to promote literacy in the community and make reading fun for kids.
The book displayed along the walk will change periodically, so stop by soon to read the first story, “We are Definitely Human” by X. Fang.
Library Director Vanessa Martin encourages the community to explore the Story Walk often and stop by the library on the way.
