Ripley, Decatur health departments in a wellness war

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – A competition is underway that encourages residents of two counties to focus on their health and wellness.

The Ripley County Health Department and the Decatur County Health Department are competing against each other during the Wellness War.

This local competition urges residents of either county to report the things they have done to maintain good health. Points are tallied each week.

It isn’t just about working out, but also drinking water, getting good sleep, mental health exercises and even brushing your teeth.

“This is for all ages and all abilities. We encourage our youth and senior citizens to get involved – especially if you are homebound or live in a nursing facility,” organizers said.

It has also included some fun social media posts from both departments to encourage more people to get involved. Here is a recent video from Ripley County:

The 2-month competition runs through August 1 and anybody can submit your points each week.

Ripley County is hoping to get some more people involved as they are currently trailing to Decatur County for overall points.
