Are students in Mrs. Rea's art class

(VEVAY, Ind.) – Two Switzerland County Middle School students are being recognized for some of their recent artwork.
Their art class was tasked with creating a Linocut print that displays a deeper meaning that they hold close to their heart.
It was an assignment that Rylee Carfield and Mya Cutter fully embraced and put all of their effort in.
Rylee made a design that put a focus on what she calls false equality.
“I noticed how a lot of media portrays gender equality as actually wanting an imbalance when it comes to advantages, however it is not about that, it is about equality,” Carfield said.
Meanwhile, Cutter began the project by researching cultural diversity and inclusion and it led her to put a focus on her faith, Christianity.
She came across the Bible verse “James 4:8” which reads “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”
“And it means to me, try to find Christ in your identity, pulling through you because the Cross is in your fingerprint,” Cutter said.
The unique assignment in Ashley Rea’s class challenged students to use their creativity through Linocut, which is a printmaking technique where a design is carved into a linoleum block, and the raised surface is inked and printed onto paper.
