(COLUMBUS, Ind.) – First responders in Bartholomew County are searching for an 11-year-old girl who was swept away by river waters on Tuesday night.
The girl was last seen in the East Fork of the White River near Mill Race Park around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Crews deployed three boats on the river and there were also divers who searched the area for four hours.
“After exhaustive efforts by responders, the search will be suspended through the night and will commence on Wednesday morning,” the Columbus Fire Department stated.
Authorities say the search efforts have now transitioned to a recovery.
Mill Race Park will be closed to the public during search operations.
