(OLDENBURG, Ind.) — State Senator Jean Leising (R-District 42) says she was the target of a threat this weekend.
She says a pipe bomb threat was directed toward her home in Franklin County on Saturday night.
In recent weeks, the Republican state senator has been outspoken against the GOP-led Indiana congressional redistricting proposal.
She added that the threat toward her is “a result of the D.C. political pundits for redistricting.”
Several Indiana legislators and the governor have recently been targets of “swatting” calls similar to what Leising says she is experienced Saturday.
Swatting is when someone with falsely notifies police of an emergency at a targeted location. The end goal of this is to generate as large a scale law enforcement response as possible.
The Indiana State Police are currently investigating the matters. Tips can be given by contacting the ISP at iifc@iifc.in.gov
