Sentencing for Franklin Co. man convicted of Attempted Murder delayed until next week

Convicted on two counts of Attempted Murder

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – The sentencing hearing for a man convicted of shooting his wife and a Franklin County deputy has been delayed again.

The hearing for 33-year-old Gregory Guilfoyle was originally scheduled for Friday but was delayed due to a medical issue.

It was scheduled to take place today but was delayed once again. It is now scheduled to take place next week.

Guilfoyle was found “Guilty But Mentally Ill” on eight charges including two for Attempted Murder.

Prosecutors say Guilfoyle shot his wife and left her out in the cold during a blizzard in December of 2022. She suffered severe injuries but survived.

Later that evening, Guilfoyle was walking along S.R. 1 while carrying his infant daughter. He was encountered by a deputy and a gunfight ensued. Guilfoyle suffered serious injuries and the deputy was uninjured, however a bullet struck his bulletproof vest.
