Services announced for Bright firefighter Kevin McKinney

Will be held on March 5

(BRIGHT, Ind.) – Funeral services have been announced for a longtime Bright firefighter who lost his battle with cancer on Thursday. 


53-year-old Kevin McKinney was a member of the Bright Fire Department for 23 years. He served in various positions including EMS chief, captain and lieutenant. McKinney also contributed to Greendale Fire/EMS and Sunman Rescue 20.


Community members are invited to celebrate his life on Wednesday, March 5. 


A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Bright Christian Church.


The fire department will conduct an accountability pinning ceremony, leading into the funeral service that will commence at 1 p.m..

 

After the funeral, there will be a procession to Gibson Cemetery, where Kevin will take his final ride in the Bright Fire Department Ambulance, a fitting tribute to his dedication to service.


In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to be made to any of the following: the family, Bright Fire & EMS, or the Southeastern Indiana Emmaus Community. 


The department is asking the community to support the family by making donations at First Financial Bank in Bright under Kevin McKinney’s name.
