Seymour officer rescues 2 from submerged vehicle

(SEYMOUR, Ind.) – A Seymour police officer is being credited with saving two people after a vehicle went into a lake.

A 9-1-1 call was made about a vehicle that ran off the road and went into Cypress Lake on Thursday.

The incident happened outside the city limits, however Seymour Police Officer Gabe Jordan overheard the map and realized no deputies were in the immediate area.

Sgt. Jordan responded and went into the waist-high water and rescued the driver from the vehicle as it was filling up with water.

“Sergeant Jordan then assisted the female passenger from the vehicle, but because of the strong current of the water, Sergeant Jordan carried the female to safety,” the Seymour Police Department stated.

The driver and the woman were later treated by Jackson County EMS.
