(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – A former county council candidate is hoping to return to office in Franklin County.
Joe Sizemore is seeking election to Franklin County District 1 Council after serving in the role for 12 years.
His goals are to lower the Wheel Tax, make county government more efficient, and take advantage of the summer tourism in Brookville.
“I want people to realize that I’ve been out of office for three years and in the last three years we have had three new taxes put on us, first was EMS tax second was the Wheel Tax, which I asked to start low and see where the state went with it and third council voted to raise property taxes last year,” Sizemore said.
He added, "I would like to do my best to keep property tax assessments more level- I don’t agree with someone’s assessment going up because someone builds a house down the road from them and their taxes going up."
Joe and his wife, Christy, have been married for 36 years and he’s worked for an aerospace company for three decades.
“A promise I will make to the voters. I will never vote to raise your property taxes. I will never do anything to dishonor our county,” he added.
The Primary Election is set for May 5 and he is running on as a Republican.
