South Dearborn freshman nominated for Unsplash Photo of the Year

(AURORA, Ind.) – A South Dearborn freshman has an incredible talent for photography and one of his images has been nominated for Unsplash Photo of the Year.

14-year-old Cal Rollins took this photo of a grizzly bear at Brooks Fall in Katmai National Park in Alaska this summer.

“I love Alaska and photographing wildlife,” Rollins said.

This photo is one of ten that have been selected by the Unsplash community. Latvian photographer Anita Austvika shortlisted this photo and gave a glaring review.

“The image captures more than a wildlife encounter—it conveys strength, solitude, and the raw beauty of nature, frozen in a moment of stillness within a moving landscape,” she said.

You can vote for Rollins' photo until October 31. The winner will receive $10,000 in prizes that include an engraved trophy, merchandise and gifts from Unsplash sponsors.
