South Dearborn names interim superintendent, sells Manchester
(AURORA, Ind.) – South Dearborn Schools announced a new interim superintendent during the school board meeting on Tuesday.
Janet Platt was approved as the interim superintendent and will replace former superintendent Dr. Ron Ross.
Platt has been with the school corporation for many years and has most recently served as Assistant Superintendent and Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
The school board did not provide any details as to why Dr. Ross is no longer with the district.
The move comes just a month after the Dillsboro Elementary principal was placed on administrative leave, but returned to the position on August 24.
The details of why she was placed on administrative leave have not been made public.
Manchester Elementary School
The school board approved the closure of Manchester Elementary in April 2025 due to declining enrollment and much-needed building improvements.
On Tuesday, the school announced they received one bid for $250,000 to sell the building. The school board approved the sale to that bidder last night.
No additional information was provided in regard to the sale.
