A celebration was held today

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Students and staff at South Decatur gathered for a big celebration on Wednesday.
Principal Amy Cockburn is in her first year at South Decatur and it took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with cancer this past fall.
She continued to be an integral part of the school community while undergoing treatments.
Cockburn attended nearly every extracurricular event, whether home or away.
“She has taken students out for lunch to build connections and get to know them better. Her presence has been felt at literally every event, whether it's working a track event, attending away volleyball and basketball games,” the school said.
A few days ago, Cockburn received the news that she is now cancer free.
The school held a celebration for her today in the high school gym.
“We want to take a moment to express our gratitude for everything she has done for us. She initiated the popular snack program to ensure students are not going hungry before class,” the school added.
