South Ripley dominates to win holiday tournament

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – The South Ripley girls basketball team had an impressive showing at a tournament this weekend.
The Lady Raiders outscored their opponents 182-112 to win the Centerville Holiday Tournament.
They defeated Randolph Southern 67-36 in the first game, beat Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian 55-43 and then won the championship with a 60-33 victory over Edinburgh.
During the championship game, junior Claire Samples hit a buzzer beater from past half court at the end of the first quarter. You can watch that video in the media player above.
The tournament led to several player milestones as senior Kaiya Rinear surpassed 1,100 career points, Claire Samples reached 600 career points and Emily Parks crossed her first milestone in points and 100 assists.
South Ripley is currently 11-3 on the season and will play Madison before defending their back-to-back Ripley County Championships the following week.
