(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Local 4-H members gave back to the less fortunate during the county fair this past summer.
A trailer was parked at each county fair where 4-H members were encouraged to drop off donations for food banks.
The initiative was called Fight Hunger, Stock the Trailer and it presented by Farm Credit Mid-America and sponsored by Rural 1st.
In Southeast Indiana, Jackson, Decatur and Jennings counties were the top fairs for donations.
Jackson County raised 24,320 pounds of food, Decatur County raised 11,160 pounds of food and Jennings County raised 8,340 pounds.
Altogether, donations from across Southeast Indiana brought in 56,698 pounds of food.
The statewide initiative resulted in 233,500 pounds of food across Indiana to be donated.
This marks the fourth consecutive year of record donations in the five-year-old program – with 2025 more than doubling the 2024 total of 108,000 pounds.
