St. Paul man jailed on drug, gun charges in Jennings Co.

(BUTLERVILLE, Ind.) – A St. Paul man was arrested on drug and gun charges following an incident in Jennings County on Friday.


Deputies responded to a home in Butlerville for a report of an attempted robbery. 


While on scene, police noticed several people gathered at a home across the street. They say that home is the residence of someone who has an active warrant. 


Police attempted to serve the warrant and a man standing in the driveway allegedly ran away. 


A foot chase ensued and police say the man attempted to grab a gun from a holster on his waistband. 


Deputies say the man also tried to swallow multiple bags of illegal drugs while they attempted to get him into custody. 


A K-9 was deployed which assisted police in bringing Matthew Boggs, of St. Paul, Indiana, into custody. 


Investigators say they found 27 grams of methamphetamine as well as the handgun. 


Boggs was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and later booked into the Jennings County Jail.


He has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Resisting Law Enforcement with a Deadly Weapon, Resisting Law Enforcement Causing Injury, Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Obstruction of Justice - L6 Felon, and Resisting Law Enforcement.
