Sunman husband and dad passes away after 4-year cancer battle

(SUNMAN, Ind.) — A Sunman husband and father has passed away after a long cancer battle.

51-year-old Trever Eckstein was diagnosed with kidney cancer four years ago but he wasn’t the type to bring that up in conversations.

It later turned into lung cancer but that still wasn’t something Trever wanted to talk about. He never really focused on the bad things in life.

You would never run into Trever and hear him say anything negative. Trever is not someone who dawns on the past. He is always looking ahead at the future,” family members said.

He and his wife, Cindy, preferred to bring positive energy wherever they’d go.

They never shy away from an adventure, and they absolutely will show up for you at every event,” they said.

One title that he loved more than anything else was being called dad, which is what Emma and Hunter call him.

He fought Stage 4 Cancer for several years for those two and Cindy.

During the cancer battle, he was always there for others who were in need of help too.

“The Eckstein's are the type of family that show up for everyone. Anytime, anyplace, any day if you say the word they will be there to help,” the family said.

Trever passed away last night and Cindy and the kids are grieving this morning and could use help from others right now.

“We want to make sure that Cindy can take all of the time off of work that she needs. Cindy, Emma, and Hunter will need to be together during this time, for as long as possible. Hospital bills and the daily life expenses should not be a worry for her,” their family said.

A fundraiser has been launched and you can access it by clicking here.

A Benefit was held for Trever back in 2022 and you can watch that story here:
