(SUNMAN, Ind.) – A Sunman man is facing arson charges after a camper fire on Wednesday night.
Ripley County deputies were called around 11 p.m. to a property on East County Road 1300 North near North Penntown Road.
Police say a 2017 camper was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.
33-year-old Tyler Downing was identified as the suspect based off of witness interviews and evidence, police said.
“Downing reportedly fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival. While deputies searched the area, he was located near the 1200 block of North Schneider Road and taken into custody without incident,” the sheriff’s office stated.
Downing has been charged with Arson and Criminal Mischief.
The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Sunman Fire Volunteer Department, Rescue 20 EMS, and Ripley County Communications.
