SWAT situation in Ohio County was precautionary, sheriff says

(RISING SUN, Ind.) – A SWAT situation in Ohio County on Sunday was just precautionary, police confirmed. 

The Ohio County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police were serving a search warrant at a home on Aberdeen Road in connection to a man wanted on battery-related charges stemming from an incident last week. 

An Emergency Response Team, which includes SWAT, were placed on standby. 

Sheriff Tom Baxter said the warrant was served without any incident and the accused person surrendered immediately. 

55-year-old Thomas Brian Cannon was booked into the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on a charge of Battery Committed With a Deadly Weapon. 

Cannon was booked into the jail around 9:15 p.m. Sunday.
