(ST. LEON, Ind.) – A local family is using their experiences of facing medical hardships to help others that are in a similar position.
Theo Elwell was born in 2023 and has overcome multiple surgeries while keeping a resilient smile.
His parents, Danielle and Robert, saw the difficulties of not only learning how to care for their child, but how to balance jobs, family time and hospital stays.
They created Theo’s Gift which is a nonprofit that raises money for other local families navigating the complexities of having a child born with a congenital defect.
“Our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burden by helping with supplies or costs not covered by insurance so families can better focus on the day-to-day care of their precious child,” Danielle said.
Theo’s Gift will host their second annual 5K Run/Walk in St. Leon on Saturday, October 18.
The event welcomes walkers and runners of all ages and it will begin at 8: 30 a.m. at the St. Joseph American Legion.
Registration for the Theo’s Gift 5K Run/Walk is underway and you can sign up by clicking here.
