Those impacted by storms can apply for assistance

(AURORA, Ind.) – Indiana Governor Mike Braun has declared a state of disaster for 63 counties.

The declaration includes Decatur, Dearborn, Franklin, Jennings, Ripley, Ohio, Switzerland, Rush, and Bartholomew counties.

It is due to the flooding and tornadic activity that was caused by the widespread storms on Wednesday night and early Thursday.

"This emergency declaration ensures that every available state resource is mobilized quickly to support response efforts, help local governments address urgent needs, and help Hoosiers recover,” Gov. Braun said.

This is effective for 30 days and allows the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to provide financial assistance to impacted families who have eligible expenses under the State Disaster Relief Fund program.
