Three hurt after tractor hayride crashes in Versailles

ree

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – Three people were injured on a tractor hayride in Versailles.

The incident happened on Cook Road around 6 p.m. Friday.

Ripley County deputies say 27-year-old Joshua Rohrig, of Versailles, was driving the tractor that was pulling the hayride.

Police believe the tractor brakes failed while travelling downhill and resulted in the tractor crashing into a ditch.

61-year-old Robert Lindemann, of Milan, fell off the wagon and landed underneath a tractor tire.

“Lindemann was able to get out from the  under the tire before first responders arrived and was later transported by Stat Flight due to back injuries,” Ripley County Chief Deputy Lee Davidson said.

A 28-year-old woman and a minor sustained minor injuries during the crash.

Deputies added that drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors.

The Ripley County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Ripley County Communications, Ripley County EMS and the Versailles Fire Department.
