There were 129 teachers awarded throughout the state

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Three local educators are recipients of this year’s Lilly Endowment Creativity Fellowship grant.
The program awarded up to $15,000 each to 129 teachers throughout the state.
Funds are used for projects the educators designed themselves, as the grants aim to restore commitment in the education profession, foster creativity and enhance the educational experiences for students.
Here are the local teachers who are receiving grants:
Judd Klingerman - Batesville
Klingerman submitted a project called “Becoming Madrileño: A Cultural Immersion and Volunteer Experience” - study linguistics and religion while volunteering in Madrid.
Helen Yane - Oldenburg Academy
Yane submitted a project called “Seeking Sustainability: A Tour of Slovenia’s Green Initiatives, Commitment to Biodiversity, and Slow Farm Economy” – travel to a country at the forefront of the world’s sustainability efforts to learn about sustainable development and environmental protection.
David Brawner - South Ripley
Brawner submitted a project called “The Pursuit of Pompeii” - join an archaeological team to help excavate part of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii.
Teacher Creativity Fellowship Program in 1987 to offer encouragement and support to Indiana’s K-12 educators working in public and private schools.
