Tour the Sisters of St. Francis on May 16

(OLDENBURG, Ind.) – Community members are invited to attend a special self-guided tour of the Sisters of St. Francis. 

It’s part of their 175-year celebration and attendees will have the chance to explore pieces of convent history dating back to the 1850’s. They will also learn about Mother Theresa Hackelmeier who founded the convent. 

“A highlight of the tour is The Immaculate Conception chapel, with special attention paid to the details that amplify its beauty. A timeline of the history of the Sisters of St. Francis is also on display that traces their remarkable journey,” said Communications Specialist Melissa Starkey. 

Sisters will be available throughout the tour to answer questions and engage in conversation. Golf-cart tours of the cemetery and Memorial Chapel will also be available. 

It takes place from 2- 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16. For more information on the event call 812-934-2475.

The Sisters of St. Francis Motherhouse is located at 22143 Main Street in Oldenburg.
